After more than 30 years as a business professor and then business school dean, Brenda Ponsford has always been concerned about the personal financial issues her students and colleagues faced. She has set up a grant-funded three-phase personal finance program for freshmen, the second phase included their families, and the third phase the university community. Likewise, she supported many international students and faculty with their immigration concerns. As a problem solver by nature and education, she also did mediation work with her faculty union.

Now, she is in her next career phase, practicing bankruptcy and immigration law, while serving as a Supreme Court Rule 31 Listed Mediator for both family and general civil law. She also consults on the immigration ramifications of divorce. As an entrepreneur, she founded Aardvark Family Services which provides supervised visitation and safe child exchange to families who have court ordered monitoring.

Brenda’s JD is from Concord University School of Law. Her business degrees are all from Virginia Tech (BS, MBA, and PhD). She has law licenses in California and Washington, DC. She now lives in Knoxville, TN where she focuses on the federal law of bankruptcy and immigration.

She is widely published and has presented at international conferences in addition to facilitating international education in Singapore, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka. She was a visiting professor in the Institute of Business and Economics (Moscow, Russia) and a senior technical advisor at the North China Aircraft Materials Institute (Peking, China).
